David Gittens

David Gittens (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CDPSE, CCSP, CISA) is an independent cybersecurity consultant and a seasoned cybersecurity professional. In 2021 he was voted one of the top ten security & resilience professionals in the Caribbean region by the Information Security Journal. As a global citizen, David has provided cybersecurity consulting services for global and regional banks, and several organizations. This work included performing risk assessments on various systems throughout Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.

David is the founding president of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), Barbados Chapter, which was the first chapter of this international security association to be set up in that part of the world. David is also experienced in anti-fraud, and has headed the Anti-fraud committee of the Barbados Bankers Association, which is the committee responsible for fighting fraud in the local banking and credit union arena. His specialties include understanding the current trends in cybersecurity and providing solutions for companies and organizations to identify and mitigate such threats and their impact.

Educated in Barbados and the United Kingdom, David holds higher education degrees in Electronic & Electrical Engineering -- Loughborough University of Technology in the UK, his Masters in Information Systems Management from the University of Liverpool, and numerous professional information, security, and cybersecurity certifications from various organizations in the UK and North America.
